MassPoint’s Founder and Principal, Hdeel Abdelhady, spoke on Islamic Finance at Harvard Law School. 

Ms. Abdelhady, who has acted as legal counsel to financial institutions, companies, and non-profit organizations on Islamic Finance, banking, and governance matters, teaches a course in Transactional Islamic Law at The George Washington University Law School in Washington, D.C.

Ms. Abdelhady’s work has included advising private and government-affiliated parties on the use of Islamic instruments and frameworks to advance public objectives, such as bolstering food security and supporting climate change and agriculture- related research and investment, including in furtherance of the Millennium Development Goals (succeeded by the Sustainable Development Goals).

Ms. Abdelhady is particularly interested in the Islamic waqf (trust/endowment), Islamic market regulation (hisba) and Shari’ah-based corporate governance as applicable to Islamic Finance and Banking and compared to conventional corporate governance frameworks.
