Hdeel Abdelhady chaired and presented at a panel on the Global Rush for Agricultural Land, which covered the legal, policy, economic, and sustainability dimensions of increased agricultural land acquisitions by sovereign and private investors and others. The program, which took place at the Spring Meeting of the American Bar Association International Section in April 2013, also included speakers from the UN Food and Agriculture Organization and the World Bank.


Hdeel Abdelhady was a co-coordinator of and speaker at a panel on Effective Insolvency Regimes for Islamic Banks, at the Global Forum on Law, Justice and Development, held in December 2012 at World Bank headquarters. 


Hdeel Abdelhady published a June 2012 article on The 2030 Group blog, on the DC Metro Area’s positioning to tap into rising global demand for healthcare and other essential technology and know-how. The article stemmed from Ms. Abdelhady’s work with a DC Metro Area group focused on bolstering investment in the DC Metro Area’s formidable healthcare and biotech sectors.

Hdeel Abdelhady spearheaded a May 2010 joint program of the American Bar Association Islamic Finance Committee and Hawkamah, the Institute for Corporate Governance at the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) on the State of Islamic Finance and Future Prospects. The program, which featured speakers from leading Islamic banks, the DIFC the former secretary of AAOIFI, and professional services providers (see agenda here) produced  a white paper, which Ms. Abdelhady co-edited and to which she contributed an article on Islamic Financial Institutions governance.
